You will drive the implementation and development of complex simulations and models for quantum computers (no quantum computing experience is required). The successful candidate must be able to create efficient mathematical models of physical systems and be able to create highly accurate simulations for the model users. What You Will Accomplish

  • Implement and analyse complex simulations and models (e.g., electromagnetic fields, heat transfer, fluid dynamics) using dedicated modelling tools and coding
  • Act as a point of contact for simulation and modelling related work across the company
  • Engage with the model users from a multi-disciplinary engineering team, understand and respond to their needs and ensure that the model is fit for its intended use
  • Play a key role in helping to develop core subsystems of quantum computers
  • Provide insight, anticipate technical issues, and provide solutions

  1. Experience with creating complex simulations and models (electromagnetic fields, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, etc.) using dedicated modelling tools (e.g., Comsol)
  2. Knowledge of mathematics and physics
  3. Programming skills (e.g., Python)

Must-have Skills

  • PhD or master's degree with relevant professional experience in physics
  • 3+ years' experience of producing computer simulations from mathematical specifications
  • Strong experience using modelling tools (e.g., Comsol, Ansys, Simulink, MATLAB, Stateflow, Mathematica)
  • 5 years of experience in programming (e.g., Python)
  • Ability to communicate complex physical concepts to a wide variety of audiences

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Python Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Scikit
  • Understanding the basic principles of particle dynamics
  • Electromagnetic field simulations
  • CAD modelling
  • Numerical methods and high-performance computing principles
  • Experience with simulation of physics systems in a game engine; including tools pipeline, performance optimization, behaviour, etc. is beneficial but not required
  • Knowledge of software development best practices (e.g., version control, unit testing, etc.)
  • Experience using UNIX systems and running simulations over remote machines
