What You’ll Accomplish

  • Design custom mixed-signal integrated circuits
  • Key contributor to the design, verification, layout and test of advanced mixed-signal circuits
  • Take responsibility for analog/mixed-signal circuit blocks from requirements gathering through detailed design to tapeout
  • Supervise layout engineers and liase with external partners such as CMOS foundries and test development houses
  • Work with a multidisciplinary and experienced team of electronic engineers, physicists, quantum engineers and hardware engineers.

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates

  1. Solid experience of designing circuits implementing a strong understanding of analog/mixed-signal IC Design fundamentals and theory
  2. Fully competent in use of Cadence design tools (the dfII framework including Virtuoso, ADE, ADE-XL, Explorer/Assembler, Spectre, AMS, PVS DRC/LVS, QRC, etc)
  3. Experience of DACs, switched capacitor circuits, op-amps, voltage references and low power, low noise and very high-stability circuits

Must-have Skills

  • Experience in any of following technologies; CMOS, BiCMOS, BCD
  • Operate at the level of the entire system (IC plus board level electronics)
  • Supervising layout, including digital place and route, through to tapeout
  • Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices
  • Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player
  • PhD/Master’s Degree in Maths, Physics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Knowledge of DFT
  • Team and/or project management experience
  • Contribution towards mixed-signal design flow and methodologies
  • Commercial awareness in management issues/decision making
  • Experience with high-voltage CMOS processes
  • Good understanding of design techniques in deep submicron CMOS processes
  • Background in Physics, including quantum technologies
